No bar contacts the bottom of the canvas, they fold up to the size of a portable sideline chair, and zip into their own carrying case with handle, and they're SO easy to set up and take down, my 13-year-old daughter can do it by herself. When we planned a girl scout camping trip, I immediately hopped online to order 2 more, and was thrilled to see the price rollback to $25! At this price, they're an unbelievably great value.The canvas is a little stiff at first, but relaxes a little as it stretches out. Expect a firmer surface the first night of use!Note that the setup instructions are not as clear as they should be on how to put the end bars onto the side bars - the end bar's rectangular openings should be on the BOTTOM, and the shaped openings should be on the side (facing the side bars). For disassembly, push UP on the end bar so that it pops up off off the side bars.
