We were looking for a guest bed and this fits the bill. Air loss is reasonable - need to top off every few days. The external pump is not as convienent as an integral pump but being able to use it to inflate other items provides some offset. It inflates relatively quickly. Because it is a single unit, not a "pillow top", a deep pocket sheet is best. However, even a conventional fitted sheet will work fine. You can spend more, but unless you plan to use it every day I am not sure why you would want to.
