What buyers are saying
I purchased this airsoft gun having already have dealt with similar products from other companies and Ignite Black Ops Airsoft guns as well. This is a well built AK from Ignite (Bear River). Sturdy metal external construction except for the grip and also has a real wood hand guard.Positives for this rifle are the folding stock, which is great if you also play CQB style games. Also, the gearbox is very well built all metal with a metal hopup as well. Accuracy is very good for such a short barrel. I can hit a man sized target from about 75 feet consistently especially once the bucking worked in a bit and I get the hop dialed in. I get roughly 330fps from .20s which I would say is the best you can use for what this gun is. Do NOT use .12s. They are great for spring pistols and cheap spring rifles but I would avoid them in ANY AEG (Automatic). I typically use .25s in all my airsoft guns for better accuracy but decreased range (except in my M60 and sniper rifles) but .20s seemed to be the sweet spot between range and speed in the AK74. Also the description for this rifle shows an 8.4v 800Mah battery which is incorrect. It came with an 8.4V 1100Mah battery which is quite a bit more "playtime" than the battery listed in the description.Negatives for this rifle: The battery can be a pain to fit in the top the first time (was nice to see the flip up top). Also the inability to fit a 9.6v NIMH AK stick battery which would increase the rate of fire to about 14-15 rounds per second. 8.4v gets about 12-12.5 per second. Comes with a plastic magazine but my Cyma metal AK magazines fit and functions flawlessly. I haven't tested the plastic included magazine so I cannot say how well it would feed but the full metal hopup helps. For my experience with many different brands I would say this rifle is just slightly overpriced. I would put this rifle in the $110-120 range.I was however surprised at the accuracy with this gun and the FPS considering the shorter barrel than my Cyma AK has. The inner barrel is roughly the same length as my Echo1 ST6 M4 which is also A CQB/Field weapon. This AK can be used outdoors and in the field as well as the range and accuracy is much more than I expected. I have fielded this AK and have done quite well with no upgrades on it yet.Out of the box this is a great airsoft gun for beginners to intermediate players. Nice looking AK74 except for the BlacK Ops logo emblazened on the wood in white. I think if it was in black it wouldnt stick out so much and it cant be removed without some sanding and restaining the wood. Only thing I think I would upgrade on this gun or modify is the magazine, the inner barrel (seems to be a composite material), some rails, a mock silencer to cover the ugly orange tip (sticks out like a sore thumb outdoors...it almost GLOWS), and the battery (parts of the gun would need to be cut out to fit a 9.6v battery.) I have inquired Ignite Black Ops on using a LiPo battery which would fit to increase rate of fire but I have yet to receive a response.
