  • So i have been doing a lot of research trying to find decent road bikes that have been within my price range for several months. I basically narrowed it down between this bike and a Motobecane Mirage Pro. After weighting the pros and cons of each bike I decided to get the Schwinn. Honestly I was skeptical. I have heard that the quality of Schwinn bikes have gone down dramatically and they weren't the same reliable company that they used to be before they were bought out. When I received the bike I found it very nicely packaged and shipped. It came in only 4 days as well, the 13.95 shipping is a very good bargain. Upon opening and assembling the bike, I tediously searched over the bike for cracks in the carbon fiber or damaged components. I found none except a small scratch that appeared to be from previous installation of the rear wheel. Other than that the bike was perfect. Shimano 2200 derailleurs aren't the best out there and adjusting them takes time. I found the rear derailleur to be perfectly adjusted but the front needed a lot of work. My honest recommendation is to take the bike in to your local bike shop and have a full tune up done to the bike. Its only $45 at my shop and totally worth it. Upon opening up the front and rear hubs I found less than necessary amounts of grease so they definitely need to be repacked. The bottom bracket, however, was fine. The cranks on the bike are nice, however they are an odd brand I have never heard of and a bit on the heavy side. The bike weights around 20lbs which is acceptable for a bike this size with the materials it is made out of but then again it should way a pound or two less. Then again it is a $500 dollar bike. So on to the part about riding it. It is a blast to ride and the STI shifters work wonderfully. I am really surprised about how the bike feels on the road. I have friends who have $1500 plus road bikes and this bike feels just as good. Overall I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants to look into riding bikes for a hobby or competitively. It is an overall nice bike with decent components and the good news is is you can find used shimano 105 derailleurs on ebay for around $20 bucks a pop and upgrade to nice derailleurs for hardly any cost. Hope this helps!
